A Word From the Bellamy Mansion Museum

The Bellamy Mansion Museum located at 503 Market St. in Wilmington, North Carolina is a spectacular example of antebellum architecture. John D. Bellamy, his wife Eliza, and their nine children lived in the house until Federal troops commandeered the house and used it as their headquarters in 1865. Following the occupation, the Bellamy family regained the house and members of the family lived there until the mid-1900s.

Today the Bellamy Mansion Museum is a Preservation North Carolina property focused on interpreting the social and architectural history of the Mansion and promoting a greater understanding of historic preservation, architectural history and restoration methods in North Carolina. The Bellamy Mansion hosts a variety of events throughout the year and also participates in community events such as the "Be a Tourist in You Own Hometown Day".

Tours of the facility and its changing exhibits are offered on the hour Tuesday – Saturday from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM (with the last tour starting at 4:00 PM) and Sunday from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM (with the last tour starting at 4:00 PM). The mansion is also available for weddings and special event rentals. For more information call (910) 251-3700 or visit www.bellamymansion.org.
